A little bundle of... ahem.
I got home late this evening and almost ran over this little guy:
She was wandering in the parking lot, just waiting to be squished. So I petted her a little and looked around for her owner -- no such luck. She followed me to my door and when I opened it she ran up the stairs and made herself at home. My roomies and I have decided to let her stay the night and take her to the leasing office in the morning. She is enjoying the finer comforts of an old blanket and small water dish on the balcony.. ah, I can hear her barking for joy out there... for the last hour. It's going to be a long night.
Anyway, today was a great day, but busy busy busy -- work at nine, and left to meet with a professor about my academic future at eleven (yes, I am still working on completing my degree, Lord willing). I am going to stay in the pastoral counseling track and work toward licensure... it's been a terribly long decision making process and if you want more information feel free to contact me but it's far too long (and redundant) for me to express it all on here again.
Anyway, I went back to work to finish the day out, then met up with a friend on campus for our weekly talking time. I did some reading in the library before heading over the BSU to meet our new Kansai Gaidai students from Japan (they are here for ESL for about 2 months -- some of us from the International BSU are helping them move in and get settled, as well as building relationships with them. Anyway, I got to get to know a few of the students and we're looking forward to some shopping tomorrow to get their essentials. After exposing the students to Taco Bell for the first time (talk about a new experience), I met up with another friend at Java and talked until it closed.
Now I'm at home, spent but grateful for all that I saw the Lord do today -- it's funny that in our most desperate moments that God becomes so real to us. One of my professors said that humans tend to learn the most through suffering... I am afraid that it is true. Sometimes we must be brought to the very lowest point in order to finally stop trying to fix our lives, our loved ones, or even ourselves and cry out to the Lord. I don't know why we like to do it the hard way, to equate our wisdom and ability with God... the sin that plagued the first man and woman still permeates their descendants. Father, thank You for Your mercy and incredible patience with us. Remind us that You are the great I AM, all powerful God -- and yet you still know each of us by name and know every small intricacy of ourselves because you created us. Teach us to tremble before You, Father, and to trust You with our lives.
OH, before I forget -- BLOG TAG!! Rabby tagged me, so here are the 5 things I miss:
1) no bills to worry about
2) free tuition at my undergrad
3) Bill Cosby and Pudding Pops (what ever happened to those?)
4) Cookie Monster -- liberal public children's broadcasting has gone too far this time... he is now going to be known as the Carrot Monster. *shudder* What is this world coming to??
5) traveling overseas ... when can I go again?
Oh, and by the way: Jen, Lisa, Kristen, Lindsay, and Zack -- YOU are IT!! You have to tell the 5 things YOU miss and then tag five others... isn't this fun?
All right- I'm about to start drooling on my keyboard so I'm going to bed. Have a good one, and if you know anyone who is missing a spoiled little chihuahua with an Indiana band for a collar and likes to bark her head off all night, let me know. PLEASE.

Maybe if no one claims the dog you can let it run on campus like that gray cat we now have. Either the cat and the dog could team up or the dog would just chase the cat all around campus.
Actually, confession: at about 2am we got sick of hearing her bark that we decided to leave her on the doorstep and pray that she would survive the night. We DID leave a fluffy old blanket for her... but I noticed that when I took her outside that one of our neighbor's porches was lit that had not been on before... or maybe it was my subconscious trying to relieve the guilt I felt for leaving a helpless little dog out in the cold. :)
I didn't see a mangled chihuahua carcass on my way to work this morning, so I assume that she is fine and happily being spoiled by her owners. I'll keep your suggestion in mind, in case she comes back tonight.
Hey, Don...
I finally thought of a great name for our little "houseguest" last night:
"Chili-moo-moo."
No-no, please... Don't applaud my genius - you'll just make me self-conscious. However, monetary offerings are accepted...and highly encouraged.
Sure Jen -- just let me go sell one of my kidneys on the black market first... would you prefer cash or money order?
