Recollections...

I've been perusing through my journals from the last couple of years - it's always a refreshing thing to do. It's amazing to reflect on what God has been teaching me and others, answering prayer, guiding our lives in His own mysterious way. Anyway, I don't really have the time to wax eloquently but I wanted to leave an excerpt that I jotted down in my journal last fall as I was searching and learning about wisdom and how it is found in the fear and trust in the Lord. It encouraged me again to remember and reflect on the truths He revealed that day. I hope you find it encouraging itself, and know that not all of my journal entries are this organized and level-headed. :)

"Saturday - I love Saturdays. I got to sleep in until after 9am, so that is always exciting. There roomies are gone until Monday morning, so I have the apartment to myself this weekend. My thoughts are already going in 4th gear this morning: about SNT tonight with my international friends, seeing Jason tomorrow [note: we had just restarted our relationship], him meeting Mom in a couple of weeks.

"Reading Knowing God b J.I. Packer - very good stuff. The chapters about wisdom are excellent (Ch 9-10). The key to wisdom is to fear and trust the Lord. He quotes Richard Baxter:

"'Ye saints, who toil below,
Adore your heavenly King,
And onward as ye go
Some joyful anthem sing.
Take what He gives,
And praise Him still
Through good and ill
Who ever lives.'

"Teach me to adore You with joyful songs, Lord. Teach me to praise You for all the things You give, even if my dim mind may not completely understand it."

"Awake to righteousness, and do not sin..." - 1 Cor 15:34a

"Therefore, my beloved brethern, be steadfast, immovable, always abounding in the work of the Lord, knowing that your labor is not in vain in the Lord. - 1 Cor 15:58

"Because he has set his love upon Me, therefore I will deliver him; I will set him on high, because he has known My name. He shall call upon Me, and I will answer him; I will be with him in trouble; I will deliver him and honor him. With long life I will satisfy him, and show him My salvation. - Ps. 91:14-16"

Nice post! We must do all we can to keep our minds saturated with the truth. I was reading Jeremiah 7 today; saying that "truth as perished". Of course, this is in reference to the mindset of the rebellious. It is the reason for their behavior; sinful mortification of truth in the rebellious mindset. We must make all efforts to do the exact opposite, lest we perish.
