Off we go into the wild blue yonder...

Last weekend Jason and I drove out to Belleville, IL to spend a couple of days with my brother Ken and my sister-in-law Gao, who are both soldiers stationed at Scott Air Force Base.

Scott AFB was hosting an open house and air show that included the incredible Thunderbirds who put on a great performance: flying in tight formations, twisting and dipping, and at times flying belly to belly (one right-side up and a second jet upside down directly underneath).

There were lots to see on the ground as well as in the air... NASA displays (herego the picture of the four of us astronauts-please note the midget astronauts, our 6'4" and 6'6" husbands), a German Nazi fighter jet, a Russian WWII plane, and several American made jets and planes spanning from the last century.

Scott AFB is also just across the river from St. Louis, MO so we spent a good portion of our time either on the metro train to/from the city or roaming around its streets. It was Jason's first time in St. Louis, so we wanted to make sure we hit the big arch before we left. We ate a big carbo-charged lunch at the Old Spaghetti Factory (yep, the same restaurant as in L-ville but it was Jason's first time there and I think one of my brother's current favorite restaurants) and we made it to the top of the St. Louis arch by sunset as the band Live played below. By the time we left Saturday night, we were prett beat (as you can tell from this pic at the top of the arch). However, the weekend was great and we are so thankful for Ken and Gao who opened their home and their time off for us. What did you do this past weekend? Any plans for this coming weekend? Post a comment and tell us all about it!
