In the birthday aftermath
It was a great night all around, with some wonderful laughs, fellowship, as well as good teaching and worship. We also spent some time sharing burdens and received some much needed prayer and encouragement. The night was very laid back and just... great. The last of our guests left at about 1:30am.
There is nothing like genuine fellowship with brothers and sisters in Christ... to be real in our struggles and heartaches, yet rejoicing together that we have confidence in God's goodness and love toward His children in the midst of trials... Hearing songs sang by men and women declaring the goodness of God, joining together in listening to teaching of God's Word and sharing what part of our hearts were exposed as we heard Truth articulated, confession of sin and resulting forgiveness and reconciliation, Christ-centered romance that can be observed, rejoiced over, and shared with brothers and sisters in the Lord... THIS is what fellowship of the body of Christ is about! To share LIFE together, to spur each other on toward love and good works, to bear one another's burdens, to exhort and comfort, to learn to live the Gospel and helping each other in understanding what that means. Life in Christ is the best thing that I have ever or COULD ever imagine - and I am so thankful for what amazing people that God has placed in my life, in such a time as this.
"By this we know love, because He laid down His life for us. And we also ought to lay down our lives for the brethern. But whoever has this world's goods, and sees his brother in need, and shuts up his heart from him, how does the love of God abide in him? My little children, ,let us not love in word or in tongue, but in deed and in truth. And by this we know that we are of the truth, and shall assure our hearts before Him... And this is His commandment: that we should believe on the name of His Son Jesus Christ and love one another, as He gave us commandment." - 1 John 3:16-19, 23

AAAAWWWWWEEEEE... PRECIOUS! What good memories, Donna. We DEFINITELY have to do this again. And just for the record, peeps:
For anyone out there considering purchasing a birthday cake with heavily-dyed icing (our's was blue), I would advise otherwise. After slicing the cake with a "honkin'-momma" butcher's knife, I think the vengeful pastry had the last laugh.
Don't ask.
Pretty princess made my day - one of the funniest things I've seen in my whole life. HA HA HA. Thank you for this Donna. I heard your birthday was a fun time. I was in Atlanta, or I'd have been there to cheer you on as well. Happy Birthday!
ps welcome to the quarter century club.
I'm not sure which is funnier, Jose or the vengeful pastry.
Yeah, Jose was hilarious. It all started because I was walking by him with my tiara in my hand -- he and Danielle were in conversation and I just set it on his head and said, "NOW try to have a serious conversation."
You should ask Jen about that blue vengeful cake -- it really did have the last laugh on us. *shudder*
Quote from the evening: "How many smurfs had to die in the making of that cake?" - Jason
Good times.
That night was awsome...not just because we got to suprise Donna for her birthday, but because we got to lift our brother up in prayer, and listen to J Pipahz talk about SUFFERING...which has brought me a measure of comfort in the days which immediately followed. It was good to see Kako (if that's how you spell it) again...good to hear her pray and read from the scriptures. It's just beautiful to me to hear her read and pray with such transparent passion. That was actually an unforgettable night--I almost have nastalgia already.
Bradley
There is something very special about running around with a princess tiara that just makes your day (can I get a witness, Jose?).
I agree with Bradley in saying that it really was a great night. We always enjoy having you all over into our home for great fellowship and food! The evening, as always, was memorable in all its various phases...smile. Thanks for helping to make D's birthday so unforgettable!
Jen, the cake was...special. ;)
Donna!!
I'm so sad I couldn't come to your party. I love that you've embrassed my birthday princess philosophy. Next you know you'll be making up your own holiday. Donnikkah..I don't know. You'll have to think about it.
