Rally the Troops!

All right - I have managed to pry my foot out of my cake hole since my last post. The last week has been fairly busy, though I'll spare you the monotonous details. However, I would like to take a moment and thank my beautiful and servant-hearted bridesmaids who spent several HOURS putting together our wedding invitations.

Ang (my maid of honor - best friend/roommate through college) rolled in on Friday night for some serious wedding work and catch up time. Ang and I did some small shopping for little wedding things and more ribbon for the invitations. My other bridesmaid Rachel (friends through adolescence/youth group) drove up Saturday afternoon from south end of Louisville to join us along with my two roommates Jen and Lisa (the other two bridesmaids). We popped in a rented copy of "Father of the Bride" (which I had never seen, much to the dismay of my friends), and we began a flurry of hole punching, velum laying, and ribbon tying. I have to say that the end result is stunning - exactly how I had imagined them. And it only cost me a pot of spaghetti for lunch and pizza and breadsticks for dinner as a reward for their hard work. :)

There were two particular memories from the weekend that still stand out in my mind. One was right in the middle of the invitation making, and I was struck by the sight of seeing friends so dear to me and from different seasons of my life working together helping to prepare for one of the most important decisions of my life. It was almost like a "Here is Your Life" moment... I had flashbacks of Rachel in her braces, our matching flannel hoodies, and our 14-year-old singing group "TC2G." I remembered college nights with Ang and our 1am Domino pizza runs, late night laughs with StrongBad, and housesitting through the holidays together. And of course I can't recount all of the late night Wal-Mart runs, times of prayer and intense discussion, and inside jokes with my wonderful roommates. I was so overwhelmed with emotion at one point during the day I thought my heart was going to burst.

The second memory is really not profitable for mixed company, but it involved measurements and Donna inserting her big fat foot right back into her mouth, followed by hysterical laughter. Those that know the details about this please insert laugh here. The rest of you are to be left in the dark, as it should be.

Anyway, the weekend was a success - I owe you girls my life, you are all such a blessing to me. I love you all!
